The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has granted the Apex Mountain Fire Brigade $1,550.

The funds were presented by Area I director Subrina Monteith at the recent Apex Community BBQ. The grant will fund the purchase of fire-resistant coveralls for volunteer members. 

The Apex Fire Brigade is fully funded by donations and receives no revenue from any sort of a tax levy. It was recently donated its first fire truck by Bryan Reid of Pioneer Log Homes. 

Construction has started on an addition to a barn owned by the resort that will act as a temporary fire hall to store the truck.

Fundraising is underway to purchase equipment to outfit the fire truck. You can learn more on the fire department’s Facebook page.
