Father’s Day Fishing Derby
Celebrate Father’s Day with a day on the lake at our annual Fishing Derby! Hosted by the Apex Fire Brigade Society and Apex Volunteer Fire Rescue firefighters, this catch-and-measure tournament is open to all ages and experience levels. Enjoy the fresh air, friendly competition, and great prizes – all while supporting a great cause. All proceeds will go toward outfitting the new Apex community firehall.

How It Works
- Catch-and-measure: Fish are judged by length, not weight.
- Open to all ages.
- Great prizes for longest catches.
Registration
- Cost: $50 per person – includes a burger and a beer at the Dragon Boat Pub after the derby!
- Pre-registration is required by 9:00 pm on Saturday, June 14.
- Everyone on the boat must be registered if they are fishing.
How to Submit Your Catch
- Use the official tournament measuring board available for purchase.
- Submit two photos by 2:30 pm:
- Fish on the board with nose against edge, length clearly visible and
- You holding the fish, Skaha Lake visible in the background.
- Photos must be submitted via text or email (details provided at check-in).
Prizes
- Longest fish – 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
- Winners must be present at the awards to claim prizes.
Rules
- No fishing before 7:00 am sharp – early fishing means disqualification.
- Only fish caught in Skaha Lake qualify.
- All participants must follow BC freshwater fishing regulations and boating safety laws.
- Unsafe or disrespectful conduct will result in disqualification.
